Italy: Day Six
Today we headed to Vatican city. Unfortunately, the battery in my camera died at the end of the prior night so I was unable to take pictures. E took pictures on her camera (but who knows when I will actually have those as her trip may not be ending for a few more months... dont ask!) We went inside St. Peters Basilica and the Vatican museum which houses the Sistine Chapel. St. Peters was incredible. It is, by far, the neatest church I have ever been in, and just knowing that this is where the Pope is, made it all that much more incredible. Then we ventured through the Vatican museum which is H-U-G-E. The Sistine Chapel is the final stop, and I must admit, I thought it would be much larger. The ceiling looks 3-D and I found it hard to believe how many men worked on it, how long it took to complete, and how they had that level of talent. It truly was incredible. I sat there just soaking it all in .... (and dreaming of pizza and gelato). Later that night we hopped on the bus for dinner. We weren't sure where we would end up, but we were ok with that. We sat on the bus until we felt we were in a cute part of town (naturally), and then hopped off. We had a great meal (mind you, dinner is normally around 9'ish in Italy, so we followed custom) and enjoyed each others' company. We are officially in love with Rome.
