The Freedom Trail

Christmas has passed, and I am still working my way through my November travels. So is the life of an "always playing catch up" blogger.

Once we arrived in one of our favorite cities, we wanted to try new things in Boston this go around. We loved everything about last year's trip, but we wanted to experience parts of the city we did not get around to last year. We started out by walking the Freedom Trail. We didn't complete the nearly 3 mile trail, but we did see Boston Commons, the State House, Park Street Church, Granary Burying Grounds, the site of the Boston Massacre, the Old South Meeting House, the Old State House., Faneuil Hall, and more.

We loved just walking and taking in the city. We found ourselves on a pleasant detour through Beacon Hill, stopping into adorable shops and peeking into windows of little cafes.

We met up with friends for dinner in the North End where we enjoyed Italian cuisine and pastries that made all of us feel like we were in heaven.

We ventured to Cambridge for a few hours to see Harvard's campus and to peek into the little shops in Harvard square. We fell in love with a little grocery store and one of the book stores across the street from campus. Everyone separated from one another and we all found ourselves parked in different isles with our noses glued to a new book. It really is the simple things in life, isn't it?

We took the T to Newbury Street for some shopping, had beers during the VT/UVA football game at the Marriott Copley Place. We cancelled our dinner reservations so we could enjoy a few more Sam Adams at an Irish pub, and laugh the weekend away. Another successful Boston trip in the books.

Lets not forget to note the 60th anniversary dance party at the Green Dragon, telling locals that the Freedom Trail is a joke due to the construction which interupted the path, the hosiery ad, reiterating "18 to party, 21 to drink", trashcan dances, and having to get in the car and then packing the suitcases around me.
