Man, this has been ONE crazy week. I am currently working anywhere from 8-11 hour days and it is just wiping me out. But, one thing that isn't wiping me out is my excitement for E. She is having the time of her life, and frankly, I dont think anything that is going on in the U.S. crosses her mind (except for missing her friends and family) so those "E Notes" haven't really been necessary. There is one thing that is necessary, and that is keeping E updated on American Idol. With that in mind (and just one day late due to the Caps BIG WIN last night) ... a run down of the Top 5 on "Ratpack Week" (Big Band) with mentor Jaime Foxx (whom I L-O-V-E):
Kris Allen: "The Way You Look Tonight" (E: I figured it out, he reminds me of a mix between Nick Lachey and Jason Mraz, whattya think?)
* Randy - Best performance to date, mad nice vocals baby
* Kara - Tonight you have set the technical standard so incredibly high for this evening
* Paula - (said a lot of weird stuff that I couldn't even type; none of it makes sense)
* Simon - I didn't think it was incredible, I dont think you can win this competition
Allison Iraheta: "Someone to Watch Over Me"
* Randy - Come out lookin like Britney Murphy, you sing like Pink, and that was the bomb
* Kara - I aint nervous for you anymore, you converted some new fans tonight
* Paula - (again, some weird stuff that isn't worth writing, but something about being "tender")
* Simon - Do you think you can win this competition at this stage? I don't feel that belief in you still. I thought it was a great performance, but maybe you have been overshadowed, and I have a horrible feeling you could be in trouble tonight
Matt Giraud: "My Funny Valentine"
* Randy - One of the hardest songs to sing ever, it was just a little bit pitchy, it didn't all quite come together for me. I'll give it a 6 out of 10.
* Kara - Competition is stiff tonight, but I didn't feel you were emotionally connected to it
* Paula - I love what you did to this song. I felt the emotional connection and we got to hear a different side of Matt. It was pure, simple and you did an excellent job tonight.
* Simon - I am going to have to disagree with .... (wait for it) ... Randy. For me, it was the only believable, authentic song I have heard tonight. I heard a bit of a Nat King Cole type of phrasing and I thought you were absolutely brilliant.
Danny Gokey: "Come Rain or Com Shine" (My favorite performance of the night)
* Randy - You are the only one I've heard so far tonight that could actually have an album of songs like that and win! And let me remind everybody about one thing, this is a singing competition and you can sing!
* Kara - The end of your performance was the most creative you have ever been with a melody (and some other weird stuff)
* Paula - Stellar, stellar performance and I can tell you see the finish line straight in front of you
* Simon - You had a swagger and a confidence. I felt tonight you came out to prove a point. The arrangement was superb and I have to give a special thank you to Jaime Foxx because what he brought out in you was incredible. That was outstanding.
Adam Lambert: "Feelin' Good" (really, he's in a whole other league... )
* Randy - I"ll say it again, I'm sounding like a broken record, it was a little too theatrical, but you're in the zone consistently dude. Another good performance
* Kara - You're shocking in a good way. Sleezy and superb and I dont know but I like you.
* Paula - Words cannot describe... you make me feel better than good. Every performance I see is like watching the olympics and you are Michael Phelps
* Simon - By Randy saying you're too theatrical is like complaining that the cow moo's. What I get from you is the feeling that you want to win, prove a point every week and you want to entertain and that is why I like the show this year. Best entrance of the year so far. (he came down a huge set of stairs and strutted his stuff in a shiny white suit)
AND SINCE I WATCHED THIS A NIGHT LATE ..... THE RESULTS ARE IN:
Bottom 3: Matt, Kris & Adam
Bottom 2: Matt & Adam
Eliminated: Matt
