It's Funny

Two weeks ago I was listening to one of my favorite pastors Andy Stanley. He was in the middle of a four part sermon series, but one part stuck out the clearest. In summary, Andy said that we all go through phases in our lives. Some big, some small. While you are going through each phase, you could talk for hours about every detail and description of your life. As time moves on, these phases are in your past, and those huge (or maybe small, yet important) events in your life turn into a mere two or four sentence summary of that time. The details are gone. The description is vague. Sometimes this is a good thing because bad events in your life don't seem so bad anymore and you have given it time to heal and find purpose in your life. Sometimes this is a bad thing because good events in your life are forgotten.

After thinking about this concept for weeks and sharing it with several friends, it brings me back to my original purpose of this blog. I started this blog as a way to compile life events and for a digital scrapbook and memory book of my life. As I am now coming up on the two year mark of this little blog, I am thankful for the memories I have posted. I can see the times where I let life get the best of me, and I can feel the times where I lost my focus. My daily blogs maybe gave me inspiration that was way off course from my original intention, and in turn, I posted about things that will not be meaningful in the long run. I want to be able to read through the greater years of my life and feel my hardships and laugh over joys and blessings.

If you don't mind, I am going to take this blog back to its roots. You may become bored out of your mind for reading my sob stories, mistakes, triumphs, and adventures, but I have to remember this is my life, and you're just reading along for the ride!

Happy Belated Birthday Mom! You're incredible. Your laugh, thoughtfulness, and loyalty make you truly unique and someone I strive to be!
