Buffalo

A few weekends ago I took a short 45 minute flight to Buffalo, NY to visit my friend Lauren's family.  Lauren and I work together, and ever since meeting her, all I have heard was her love for Buffalo (her hometown). I was skeptical, but boy was I in for a treat!
Each night we sat around and enjoyed a table full of appetizers and dinners of tuna, swordfish, lamb chops, and real (Buffalo) chicken wings! Talk about taking me to my happy place? One night we celebrated a birthday, and it was always five o'clock somewhere!

During the day, Lauren and I viewed her neighborhood on foot, took a (car) tour of Buffalo's greater landmarks, enjoyed lunch at a family favorite, ventured into Canada (what??!!!) to see Niagara Falls (another post), and attended the Buffalo Bills home opener!

By the end of the weekend, we worked our way through quite a few bottles of wine (Lauren's family has an amazing wine cellar!!), and I was brought to tears at the thought of leaving.
Can we say "Just what the doctor ordered!"? Lauren's family was so sweet to host me for the weekend, and I will forver cherish the memories!

A few notes on Buffalo:
  • Everyone knows everyone (in Lauren's neck of the woods)
  • Each lawn is kept in pristine condition (I couldn't get over it)
  • So you mean there isn't bumper to bumper traffic every hour of the day in every city?
  • Buffalo Bill fans cheer and cheer hard for their team (refreshing)
  • Local establishments really make a place feel like home
  • Niagara Falls is only 20-30 minutes outside the city
  • I wouldn't have thought it, but there is a LOT to do in Buffalo!
PS! I am just playing around with editing pictures.  I am aware some are a bit over edited, but please bear with me for a bit!!
