Weekend.

This past weekend was one of my more low key weekends.  I needed it.  The weather was in the high 70's which is a gift from God in October.  I babysat three little munchkins from church on Friday evening & Saturday morning. One may say I am too old to babysit.  I say noone is ever too old to play with kids for a few hours and get paid for it.  The two oldest kids are 3 and 5, and are really into the game of UNO.  The competitive side in me came out.  I had to (constantly) remind myself of their ages. They did not want to play the Skip, Reverse, Draw Two or Draw Four cards as that was the "Grown Up game".  That didn't fly with me.  I made those kids play the Grown Up game and not the Kids game they were used to.  It was interesting to say the least. Humbling as ever when the 3 year old straight up beat me (several times).  Rematch!

Have you ever noticed how great it feels when kids remind you how great the little things can be? UNO? Soccer in the backyard? Catching bugs? Playing tag? It is amazing.  Adults need more of these things in their lives.

On Saturday night I headed to Reston Town Center to meet up with some girlfriends from high school.  It is rare we are able to plan a get together with this group on short notice, but it worked, and we all loved it!

Sunday ... what happened to Sunday? I napped all day.  (Sign #1 I am coming down with a cold).  I think those little munchkins gave me something...

I Skyped with my parents on Saturday afternoon.  How great is Skype?  I made them gather around the computer as I told them I had a confession.  The look on their faces was priceless.  I told them that I really needed to get something off my chest and since I could tell them at the same time, it was the right time.  Again, the look on their faces was priceless.

I made my very first QVC purchase.  It is true. I never thought I would ever cave, but I did.  I bought this little nugget.

I am pretty convinced he (or she?) is going to change my world.  The Dyson D25 Animal Ball is supposed to be an incredible vacuum (but what Dyson isn't?) and the price was a steal. All of those attachments came with it, and the total price was cheaper than just the vacuum is in stores.  Can't be that! He (or she?) arrives later this week.  I can't wait to get my vacuum on.

In other discoveries, I explored the Whole Foods by my parents house, and I am now obsessed with the Trail Mix bar.  I am pretty sure the Whole Foods by my house does not have this nifty bar, but I am hooked.  Have you ever put together your own trail mix? Super easy, super fun, and (not so super but could be worse) healthy!

Jealous of my weekend? Random, low key, lovely.  I'll take it.

  1. I love this! Low key weekends are the best. I am cracking up that you made a QVC purchase! I guess I should start looking. :) And yes...kids are the best when it comes to noticing the little things and finding value and appreciation for the smallest of things.
