Over Mothers Day weekend, my mom, sister and I took the bus to New York City. Lucky for me, this was my third trip to the Big Apple this year. Mom kept mentioning she would really like to go, so cue: The perfect Mothers Day! To accomodate our schedules, we kept the trip short and sweet. Twenty six hours in the city, and we made sure to make use of each one. We did all of our favorite things: shop, laugh, smile, eat good food, stay at a pretty hotel, enjoy the outdoors, & drink wine!
We lucked out with gorgeous weather, perfect for walking from 49th street down to SoHo, shopping along the way! After the long walk, we had to take a cab back to the hotel because we were exhausted, and he was surprised to hear how far we walked! We were sort of proud too...
Sunday morning, Mothers Day, we woke up eager to hit "the park", my favorite park, Central Park. It was another gorgeous day in New York. We had no direction or game plan than to just get lost and admire all that Central Park is.
This cellist made my heart swell. We walked past him again a bit later to find him playing the "ABC's" to a little boy and his grandfather. There are some things in life that are so sweet, they make you appreciate how fragile and incredible life really is.
Before we left, we enjoyed brunch at a brasserie (like, black and white subway tile that just takes you to another place ~sigh~). They had all of their windows open too! Something about the breeze, brunch, and Sunday mornings makes me squeal.
The hours went by fast, made for a memorable experience, and was the best way we could celebrate our love for each other.
Mom, you are truly special, and something else. Erika and I are beyond fortunate to call you our mom. Thank you for all you do for us, day in and day out. I can't wait to return to the city with you soon!
