Back Track 1

I have had bloggers block aka: too much fun with a side of puuuuuure laziness. However, I am back! I have had some encouragement from two of my favorites (here and here), and I am ready to get back in the swing of things. In the end, this is my place to "record" life happenings as they are so much more fun to look back on this way, so I really should not neglect it, eh?

To catch my blog up to date and my 11 readers (can I get 2 readers these days? I know I'm terrible with blogging, but it makes me feel kind of good about myself when someone at least reads what I spend some time pulling together, anyone? mom? no? forgot the URL again? mannnn....) on life happenings, I am going to run a short (and oh so sweet) series I will appropriately title "Back Track". So let me get started on bringing this lil fella up to speed.

The last weekend in April, my sister and I had the opportunity to work with the Redskins Charitable Foundation at the Redskins Draft Day held at FedEx field. My sister and I were 2 of the 4 people in charge of selling momentos of Fed Ex field to the die hard Skins fans. By momentos, I mean - Fed Ex field is replacing their Jumbotron (the huge screens in the endzones) with new digital and high tech screens. As the disassembled pieces of the Jumbotron were just about to hit the garbage, the Redskins Charitable Foundation requested to keep all of the (dirty and some cracked) pieces to resell to the fans. All proceeds would go to the Foundation (which helps children in the community in the areas of heath education, fitness and wellness). My sister and I were then in charge of convincing fans to buy what some may consider junk, for $5 a piece. Bear in mind, these pieces do not do anything. They cannot plug into an outlet, and they still contain dirt and dust from their 13 years of hard work. Despite our poor table location, the lack of fans inside (as it was a beautiful day and everyone was outside), and the fact that the outside table caught all of the fans as they entered the stadium, my sister and I were beyond successful!! Apparently Redskin fans like to keep anything and everything Redskins related. We sold approximately 600 pieces ($3,000 to the Charitable Foundation!!!!!!!!!) and we had an absolute blast in the process. Needless to say, we have been invited back to sell just about everything the Charitable Foundation can get their hands on. (At one point, one of the Redskins staff told me I could sell water at Niagara Falls! haha!) My sister and I were quite a team. We rocked it and loved every second of it!! I think we almost shocked ourselves as well as the Redskins staff!

The day was filled with so many fun perks! Our favorite cousins (and die hard Redskin fans) stopped by our table for family support and hugs!

We ate a beautifully catered buffet lunch in the Owners Club where we ate lunch with a few of the players and saw all of the posh furniture and decor. On our way to lunch: (this is what it is all about)
Here we are after enjoying lunch and excited to get back to our table. What you can't see is that we are wearing matching shirts. True love.

Two of the Hoggettes stopped by to pay us a visit! We capitolized on their presence by convincing every fan waiting to take a picture with them, to buy a piece of the Jumbotron!!

Our brand new head coach, Mike Shanahan, flew down from NYC immediately after the end of the 2010 NFL draft to give the fans a pep talk! Big changes ahead! (I was enjoying the late afternoon buffet spread in the Owners Club - I don't pass up a meal - as I listened to Coach!)

We weren't able to enjoy all that the Draft Day had to offer, but on our way out, we could not resist a few photos. Here is sister:

And here I am:

What a wonderful day!
