Drying Off

On my way home from work yesterday, it was raining so hard it was coming down sideways.  Sidewalks were flooding and had it not been for my trench coat, wellies and gigantic umbrella, I would have been soaked.  Those purse-size umbrellas were no good yesterday.  It rained on and off like that all throughout the night and into this morning.  Things seem to be slowing down and coming to an end, just in time for the 5 o'clock whistle!

Fortunately, the DC area hasn't experienced rain like that since Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee swept through the area at the end of August / beginning of September.  I spent a weekend after the storms in one of my favorite spots in Virginia, Old Town Alexandria.  My parents docked the boat at the marina in town for the weekend (one of my favorite pasttimes ever).  I woke up early for a quick run and to pick up a few pieces of fruit at the farmers market.  It just seemed like everyone was coming out of hibernation.

Just kidding on that last picture!! It seems a bit comical that the marina which we stayed for the weekend would also be a temporary home to that monster!

With the rain behind the DC area, for now, we are expecting temperatures in the low 70's.  Time to dry off!

Happy Weekend!
