“…I think we’ve lost touch with the idea that speaking honestly and opening about who we are, about what we’re feeling, and about our experiences (good and bad) is the definition of courage. Courage is about putting our vulnerability on the line. If we want to live and love with our whole hearts and engage in the world from a place of worthiness, our first step is practicing the courage it takes to own our stories and tell the truth about who we are. It doesn’t get braver than that.” – Brene Brown (source)Six months of no blogging? Time sure flies. The past few months have been enlightening. I retreated from the blog world due to a feeling of uncertainty I knew I needed to explore.
What have I learned? I struggle with vulnerability. Being 100% confident in my own skin, comparing myself to others, and putting far too much pressure on myself in all aspects of life. My fear of vulnerability began to capsize my joy. Parts of my life were changing and I was unsure how to manage the change. The stable life I had worked so hard to create was now being tested, and I did not know how to handle it. I retreated. I became quiet. The blogging stopped. Life sure is crazy, isn't it? Just when I think I have it all under control, God swoops in to remind me He is the only one in complete control.
So I am back! Back to make sure I document all of the fun I am having along the way, all of the lessons I am learning, all of the pictures, quotes, and stories I want to share with loved ones, best friends and strangers. Back to journal about this incredible life I have been given with (hopefully) a new perspective, a new calmness, and a new challenge: to fight my fear of vulnerability.
Here we go!
